i was changing my plugs and wires and noticed there was a broken purple wire with a white line on it. the wire runs over the motor and connects some where around the coils. can anyone tell me what this wire does? can i splice it back in to where ever it needs to go? 01 gtp

Hmm, I'm not sure what that wire is for, have you tried tracing it yet?

Doesn't sound stock. Almost sounds like someone hooked up an aftermarket tach at one point if it connects near the coils.

its not allowing me to upload pictures from my phone but good call on the after market thing. the only thing i could think of is the remote start so i tried it and my car turns on then right back off so i assume that went some place to make it continue running. id like to get it hooked back in but its not a requirement ill try and send the pictures through when i get to my computer

its just a single wire that runs across the top of the engine. its a very dainty wire dry rotted also.i really am clueless where it hooked into though but either way i dont think it was smart for who ever did it to run it over the motor
