Can anyone tell me what Mods would I need to safely run a 3.6" Pulley on my 2002 GP - GTP
Well since someone experienced hasn't answered yet, I'll tell you what I know. Apparently all of the 3.8's are different, some knock on the stock pulley, some can go 3.6 with no other mods and have little to no knock. I believe all you usually need are just some flow mods like headers or a plog/dp combo. 1.9 rockers will also help, but should be all you need for a 3.6. Of course everyone here would always suggest to scan before and after moving down a pulley.
u bend delete should get you there but you never know unless you scan.
Does this info stand even for a gen v? I'm running headers, 1.7 roller rockers, and an overkill tune. Planning to go 3.6 soon.
Without hashing up an old thread - I've been running a 3.2 on a bone stock 98 GTP for about 5 years now (50k miles on the pulley). No issues and the most KR I could get was something like 4* at WOT using 85 octane.
It's all over the map with these motors (or really any).
The best answer here was "you never know unless you scan". That is the truth.
See if you can borrow a scanner and see if you have any knock now. If not, I'd give it a whirl without any mods.
A 3.2 on a stock engine with only 4* KR I can only believe that if you have a huge vacuum leak or bad LIM gaskets or someone had mods done to the car before you owned it. What scan tool are you using? Also 85 octane? Where do you even buy that from and why would you want to run that in a GTP? You must not get into boost much thats why you didn't chip a piston yet. I could maybe belive it if it was a 3.4 pulley but a 3.2 I find that almost impossible, if Im wrong you must just have a factory freak.
The is no leak - positive of that. I have already replaced the lim due to coolant leak and all vacuum hoses are new. I have owned the car since it was brand new - no tune bone stock. I don't know the psi - never measured it. The dic pegs at about 60% throttle.
At altitude I have less O2 for combustion so more boost for me is different than at sea level.
Here is a video of wot acceleration with 3.2 and 85 octane (using snap-on scanner)

This is kind of a tangent anyway.
There is no universal answer to "what mods will I need". The answer for me is none.
