depends more on the road conditions and if you're going to smash the valve into the seals all the time or not. being lowered less with obviously be better for the strut lifespan, but you may not notice the difference between 1-2" for the life of the struts.
i'd venture to say at least 30-40k out of the struts, so 2-3 years depending upon how much you drive your car. i had something over 50k on GR2 (the old excel G) and eibach springs on my old car and it was pretty due for new struts. you can tell when it gets bouncy over bumps because the struts can no longer control the oscillations of the springs.
