I logged a quick full boost run and according to my torque app when I hit 7.2psi my KR sensor read 5.8*. That's super high! My mod list is in my sig. Could some of it be false knock? What can I do to bring this down?
Thanks

I just purchased a powerlog because I can't afford header's at this time. Hopefully that will bring it down a couple degree's. I hear there not too much different than the stock front manifold, but I guess it depends on the vehicle. It can't hurt me though. I won't boost at all until I get that installed. Whats the worst possible KR that may cause detonation? Also my car runs completely fine otherwise. Thanks for the input
U are experiencing detonation if you see kr. Just a degree or two once in a while is no biggie but 5.8 is not so good. What size pulley you running?
Stock 3.8, also have stock heat range spark plugs.
Might be due for a tune up. If you have a 3in DP / Tune / HAI. You aren't supposed to see knock, or maybe 1-2* at max.
Or maybe something is hitting somewhere and thus causing false kr?
I'm thinking false knock. I put new plugs and wires on at the beginning of summer so there's not too many miles on them. Where is the first place I should check for false knock?
Sway bar hitting on downpipe maybe? Loose heat shields on crossover / manifolds?
I've also heard torque app can be a bit off.
Try your stock PCM.
I'm in the same boat with you man, hoping you get to the bottom of this so maybe I can use some info to get rid of mine as well. My mods are in my sig.
How are your fuel trims??
I don't have my stock pcm anymore so I can't go with that. I'll check out my sway bars and heat sheilds. And I'll have to look at fuel trims when I make another run, I forgot to log those. I use LTFT correct?
There's a chance that your pistons, valves, intake have carbon build up which can create hot spots and create knock. Many on here clean carbon with sea foam. I did mine engine once about three years ago before I built it. Pretty sure I used a vacuum line to suck the sea foam in then shut the motor off for 10 mins or so then started it back up. It works very well. I forgot the actual procedure so do a search on here or google first.
If you do have a fuel pressure problem its possible you have a plugged fuel filter or weak fuel pump creating a lean condition.
Fuel filter was changed with plugs and wires earlier this year. Next step for me is to run the fuel trims, check for false knock, then seafoam.
Ok... Let's get some facts before we start claiming false knock .. #1. Your stock (minus your tune) so 5* isn't horrible.
#2. At what RPM are you seeing your FIRST blip of kr?
#3. At what RPM are you seeing you 5* peak of KR?
My very first blip was at 2691 rpm and that was before I did my pull. It only lasted a second so it was probably during a shift. 4947 rpm is where I got the 5.8*. I didn't do a wot pull so that's why it maxed out at that rpm. I should also mention I did my pull going around 45-50 if that makes any kind of a difference. I'll do another run today and try to go from a dig. I'll log fuel trims and see where I'm at.
Honestly, you're basically stock, and 5.8* @ stock isn't so unusual... Just sayin!
(assumption Tune was off car, not in car tune...)
Tune was done by Reptile on this sight. I think he did a good job otherwise. The first log it it was at 0* then I punched it and it went right up to 5.8*. I just got back from a WOT run. I don't know much about fuel trims, but here's what I got:
Max boost was 8.65psi
KR was 6.5* at that point 5181 RPM
Max KR 6.94* at 3987 RPM
Fuel Trim was 6.50 during max boost
Max Fuel Trim was 6.94 at 3987 rpm 6.9psi boost
According to torque, my estimated max HP was 165 at the wheels which seems really low. I will also mention that sometimes when I fill up for gas even if I'm at an empty tank, the pump kicks off like I have a full tank so I have to keep blipping the pump to get the desired fuel I want. It's really annoying. Please let me know how these number's look.
Thanks
