Are there supposed to be bulbs in there? I'm referring to the red reflectors on each door. I noticed mine have the socket, but no bulbs...

Well.. I'm no actual magician. You have an 00+ year and you wish they lit up. In 00 GM stopped lighting them up. I fyou want them to light up..I have a set I think laying around for this exact purpose. Throw me an offer and I'll look to see if I didn't throw them out yet.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

What do they need to light up? Should I have the wiring from the factory?

For some stupid reason They decided to cheap out and try to get by without lights. My 2000 has them in the front but in the rear it has what yours looks like. Seems like it should be functional but there is no bulb or existing wiring from the factory. Kind of a pain if you would want to do some sort of puddle light mod as you would have to run wire from inside the car.

I was thinking of doing a DIY led strips in my car, on the bottoms of the doors to see the ground area when getting in the car. I think I'm going to tap off the main light system in the car and run a strip of LED's in there instead going to a JY and finding a 97-00 with one and just taking the wires and harness. It would be brighter anyway.

Take a look through here and this may help you. http://www.grandprixforums.net/showt...+puddle+lights

You could easily tap into the floor light and run power from that. The mirror position allows to spread it out more but a strip on the bottom of the door would help light up under the car a little if you dropped something. On the mirror also allows you to unlock the car and still be able to see around with the door closed. Have had many friends comment how great that was.

Brammer, if you are looking for something to shine light on the ground with the door open? If so I would suggest looking through the link I posted too.

Yea. No problem guys. If you look through it and have questions on anything feel free to post a message in there. You can PM me about it too as I don't get on here as much as I used to and I might accidently overlook it.

It wasn't 100% copied. lol. I had a slightly different approach and included some other stuff in mine. Yours was the inspiration though.
