depends what you want out of your car. if you want a fast car, yes get a cam. if you want a car that is fast for the street, get rockers.

i want mid range. i dont really want to push the car to the top of its rpms to get power. more looking for torque than horsepower
nah. ill let the tranny shift to second at about 30 and roll into it and the midrange kinda blows, once it starts picking up rpms then it starts to move out. 50-80 is good but thats more in the uper rpms. 4500 and up. what if i hit it at 30 in second??? i looked at dynos from the vs cam and it picks up good low torque. and to me its more doing it the right way, letting the motor do the work and breath better its self instead of just craming boost into it.
i usually drive as you describe. roll into it from around 30 or so. its pretty quick once you get the pedal down far enough to get it boosting. youre going for more boost anyway, cam or rockers will not make a difference. the cam will perform better, but its not really worth it if you dont plan on going sub 12.80s. im planning on running 12s with my rockers, but ill be cheating with e85.
i think the cam is more what im looking for. there is a certin point where boost hits in and it jumps up in performance, but then i can roll into the throttle harder but it dosent really increse in performance anymore. im sure more boost would help that, but more boost AND a cam, yea! i might give some LS1's a run for there money. and when i mean fast, a bolt on ls1 is what i mean by fast, and really that aint all that fast but i would be happy with that. i could acomplish this with an intercooler but thats just way to much money right now.
I'll also say this, I've had 1.9's and now an XP. The difference was huge between the 2 and I think the cam is more what you're looking for. I remember putting the rockers and a p-log and a d/p and noticing a difference in the upper rpm range mostly campared to before but it wasent drastic.
I remember getting on it for the first time with the cam and saying god this thing pulls....The difference was through the whole power band just pulled harder. But when it got to around 4500 and it pulled strong (never fell off) to 6300 i knew i made the right choice.
I want to put a more aggressive cam in there now but it will be a little while.
You can go far with an xp
You can't go as far with rockers
yea thats what i was thinking. i dont wanna put rockers on then not be satisified and want a cam. mine as well do it right the first time. and im sure im gonna want more power out of it later. i think a cam would be a wise decision
I know I'm tearing down later anyway. Just going to do rockers for now, and I can sell them when I go back in the second time.
Well.......I do have this Overkill BBC cam sitting here, that the more I look at it, the more I just want to go bigger and "overkill" myself.......no pun intended.
Will did tell me that this cam does love small pulleys, but it's borderline on stock heads.
