My gas gauge in my 02 grand Prix seems to be all over the place. I guess the better word for it is inaccurate. What could be the problem? It's also slow and seems to jump around (it doesn't act like I remember).

Fuel lever sensor. Which its really just a fuel level arm piece where the fingers on the circuit board get worn off and cause the funny gas gauge.

Search for threads, been talked about once or twice.

I'm planning on an upgraded fuel pump for when I get widebody cnc heads. Will the new fuel pump fix the issue? Or is it fuel pump related cause if it's part of the fuel pump then I'll just get a brand new upgraded one from zzp.

Well if you only get the pump, then no it will not fix it. Some shops like replacing the entire assembly when the sending unit goes bad for some reason, which includes the pump.

So do you think the fuel pump that comes from ZZP comes with the fuel sender?

Yes but I remember there being a cheaper method out there I can't remember what it was. It just came with the broken part, it may have been what the guy in the videos did.

i already tried replacing the sensor in my 01 GP SE and it didnt make a difference. it is fairly simple to do yourself though since there should be an access pannel in the trunk. i tried running straight wires from the pcm to the senor and no difference. hooked an OBD II scanner to the car and it read 200% fuel level. check for rubbed wires below the air box. i guess there is a TSB about the harness tie down on the transmission coming undone and causing the pcm harness to rub on different parts. possibly could be a couple wires contacting each other. good luck, let me know if you get it figured out ive been trying to fix my gauge for almost a year.

Yeah let us know. I just did the Dorman fix on an Impala, same method with the access panel in the trunk. The gauge used to be all over the place, but now works again. The old teeth were completely worn out.
