Re: Multifaceted Question/Situation (Oil Pan Gasket, Shift-Kit, False Knock, et. al)
I looked for a piston for my 00 GPGT when I grenaded the original motor. Best I could find was $225. This doesn't account for the machine work to the rest of the motor to make it survive. Replaced the entire motor with one that had 150K on it and still going at 317K. Don't waste your money on trying to save this one. Just get a long block or complete motor from the JY and go from there.
You can rent an engine hoist for a weekend and still come out way ahead.
Re: Multifaceted Question/Situation (Oil Pan Gasket, Shift-Kit, False Knock, et. al)
its a long shot that swapping one piston will last, some have done it and the engine was just fine, others have not had such good luck.

What typically happens?
What if I swapped all 6?

I believe they call it the 300 mile motor.

with out a machine shop or at least checking the bearing clearances? boom in 200 miles maybe, or maybe it lasts 30,000 miles, hard to say.
what ever you do dont unbolt the crank.
in the end a used whole engine, even if its n/a and you use your old engine to top swap it will be cheaper and more reliable in the long run.
