Doesn't appear to have fixed it. Lost about a can of freon over 2 days.

Still hunting that leak, went to a couple shops today to see how much they charge and what method they use. Everyone here is at least 90 bucks to put uv dye and check it with a black light. Since I've already done that I opted not to pay. I hooked it up to an air compressor (I'm aware this isn't advised because of moisture), but my compressor doesn't go above 90psi, which isn't even the pressure the compressor on the car puts out. I vacuumed it down for about an hour then shut off the vacuum pump and waited. In about an hour it went from full vacuum to 5 notches left but still less than zero. I took the high side completely off as I was going to call it a day and it started sucking air in. I've replaced that high side valve twice. Is it supposed to suck air in when it's in a vacuum until the vacuum dissipates? I figured it would just hold the vacuum. Could this be my leak? How the hell would I fix it if I've already tried two new ports?

It's going to suck air if it's in a vacuum

Well I went out today determined to find that leak. Bought some uv dye and a new light/glasses combo and some more freon. Put 3/4s an ounce in the yellow charge hose on the manifold gauges and then added freon enough to run the compressor, then a bit more. Let it run for an hour and looked it over, no discernable leaks. So I took the charging hose loose and added the other 1.25 ounces of dye. Right after that the compressor stopped running. I swapped relays with the fog lights and no change. I took the wires loose on the compressor and jumped them, no change. I ran a lead from the battery to the wires, no change, ran wires to the switch on the compressor for kicks, no change. Seems the compressor is toast. I bought it used off ebay last year, and it worked fine until this leak happened, maybe it's been the compressor all along.

Time to take out a second mortgage and buy a new compressor this time.

Its been about a week or more since I changed out the used Delphi for a tough one from advance. Wanted another Delphi and they price matched rockauto, but they didn't have any in stock, so went with this one. So far, no issues. Still blowing cold. Before the vacuum wouldn't hold, but this one did over an hour. Juiced it up and it's still going. Old one lasted about 3 days before it lost enough freon not to be cold anymore. That settles that, I'll never buy another used compressor again, no matter how cheap. I'm sure lots of people get good ones, I'm just not interested in taking the chance.
