Hi Everyone,
OK.... I've tried to comb through all the posts for A/C issues. There are way too many to find the answer I am looking for. So, I figured just ask!
What freon is in a 2001 Grand Prix?
Ithink it is R-12. AND, from what I remember in school and from Techs in thefield is that the R-134a and R-12 do not mix. If your system originally has R-12,and you want to recharge it, you need to have the old freon recovered (It'sillegal to empty into the air) and have it converted with the seals andfittings for the R-134a. Is this correct information for my year GP?
The A/C in my 2001 was a really good, cold blowing A/C up till the end of lastsummer. I think it needs a recharge... I wanted to do it myself, like I havefor other cars (they were newer and had the R-134a listed under the hood), butI don't see the info under the hood for my GP.
I would hate to ruin it by using the wrong refrigerant in the system, turning a$25 recharge into a $1000 replacement.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
TJ
