Porter Cable Polisher

Ok gonna break down and Buy a Porter Cable Polisher because I heard they are the best threequestions;

1.) Why are they the best simeone once told me that you can't burn the paint or leave swirl marks with then is that true?

2.) Which model I found a half dozen model number

3.) Is there something cheaper and better?

Porter Cable "Used to be" the best. Not anymore. Lots that are better. I had a PC and I loved it. Hurricane Sandy took it from me. I replaced it with a Harbor Freight polisher. More power so it does a better job in less time. Plus if you hit a sale it will be 1/3 the price. Folks have been using them and logging long hours with them without failure. There is also a Griots Garage polisher which is getting rave reviews. Same price or a little cheaper than PC and people who own both say the Griots is way better.

I've tried a Griots Garage before and wasn't a fan of it. For the price of the Porter Cable you can't go wrong. I've used it so many times between friends and my car its paid for itself.

I vote porter cable! its so easy to use. I have both porter cable and rotary buffer and i always go for the pc first and never use the buffer unless i have to.

Plus my girly arms dont get tired with the pc

If you want to spend a bit more money then go with a flex, it is a lot better then the pc. I have a pc now and wish I went with the flex. Go to adamsforums.com and you can find out everything you need to know about polishers!

I dont know I think the flex is a bit overpriced for someone that wants an entry level polisher for their personal vehicles

Flex a are nice but really not needed at a entry level. If you think it out performs the PC then you may need some more time with it that or a different product/pad combo.

I don't think it out performs it, its just a fact that the flex will cut down the time taken to polish the car. Really it is all about how much paint correction he wants to do, if he wants to get it show room perfect then I would say go with the flex if he can spare the cash just cause it will take less time. I love my PC I just wish I had extra money to throw at the flex because it will take less time

Yeah flex is a bit outta my range, and I been looking at the girots too did not know they made one reviews are pretty good and it does have a lifetime warrenty. RedCompg what did you not like about it and which model did you have I am mainly using i on my cars may or my not do some side work last time I used a buffer was in the days of laquer paibt and no clear coat so things have change. Looking for something that will not hurt the paint and easy to use

The PC is super user friendly and a great entry level polisher. I highly recommend it!
I've used mine on personal and side jobs with no complaints. I have yet to come across a job that the pc couldn't handle.

I've been looking at that one from Harbor Freight as well. For the price of it you can buy 3 PCs and with its reviews and warranty coverage it seems to just be a knockoff that is just as well built.

They also have a lot of the buffer pads for a really good price.

The part about the PC is it's been a staple for the entry level person. It's a random orbital, therefore..it's not the fastest way to polish, it's a super safe way for newbs.

I haven't looked back from buying one a few years back. It's great.

Both of our machines do have a working clutch which allows the backing plate to spin at different rpm depending on machine load. The backing plate speed will perform at various speeds depending on where the variable speed dial is set and how much or little weight the user is applying to the machine while in use. Because our machine is an orbital the backing plate is also vibrating in small orbits. You can also see a video of our machine in action on our web site.
