Alright so i jumped the gun when first doing exhaust and got a full 3" into dual 2.5" custom bent exhaust made for me. Problem is! When i had it done i had them do the ubend delete aswell and they welded the 3" straight to the stock cat an put an o2 bung in it for me. Now i bought a 3" rt dp an am not sure the best way to approach the install because its the 3" to 2.5" after the cat. Would i be best to cut the end of the rt and have them weld it to that cat or should i keep that intact an have a reducer with a 2.5 flange welded onto my 3" or just for go the rt an resell it an buy headers and make it all 3inch? Im weary of getting it reduced to 2.5 for that little section because then i would basically be recreating rectriction when the whole point in exhaust work is to eliminate restriction.

Personally, I would just buy a 3" weld-in downpipe. You can get them with the cat, or without, which ever you prefer. But then you can sell the bolt in RT downpipe, and use that money to buy the weld in, and just have the exhaust shop weld it in. Basically, that is what I have.

Ok would i be able to use that dp in the future when i get headers or would i have to get the dp that goes with them an have some more cutting and welding done?

Headers require a different downpipe than the one you have for the exhaust manifolds.

well at this point i think i ought to just resell an save up an just go for headers instead so i dont have to get exhaust work done twice cause i will be getting a set of headers later on. but im just gonna think on it for now. im at colleg anyway so my cars not doin much moving right now. ill just think on it an decide what im gonna do later.

A 3in. shorty from ZZP might be a cheaper option. I went with the 2.5 shorty welded to the stock cat, then 2.5 piping for the u-bend delete.
