I have encountered three cars in the last 6 months that have had transmission issues..Long Hard shift ..whatever you call it.
1. 2002 grand Prix Gt 3.8 would start to whine loudly when hot and hard shift at 30 mph and shoot axle grease out of the boots simultaneously , I would unplug the maf sensor it would run good most of the time... sea foam Trans tune, Put a trans-go shift kit in with a bottle of Lucas, car has not whined or shifted hard since..
2. 2002 grand Prix SE, loud whines when hot same exact thing as the gt, when it would whine it shoots axle grease out.....
3. My sister in laws car, 2002 Buck Regal LS 3.8,had a very faint whine the same as the prix's but very faint, but this whine was noticeable as soon as you started the car, it was a little more noticeable as you went from as you move the gear shift into diff gears. It would shift erratically at times.. I added sea foam, trans tune, put a trans go kit in, filter change, and bottle of lucas. It has only been a day but the car drove fine so far..but the whine is still exactly the same...That's the part that boggles me.
Maybe the prix's pumps were more on the clogged side, maybe the regal's pump is in worse condition... Maybe its something else..
