I have never had to deal with this but my fiances 05 grand prix is showing the wrong amount of gas in the tank. What do I need to do ? Just replace the sending unit? I'm lost.

what do you mean by wrong amount of gas? my 08 i've noticed sometimes i'll shut it off at 1/4 tank left and when i restart it's between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank. if it was a sending unit it probably wouldn't read at all.

if you have electrical knowledge and want to test the sender. here's the resistances.

Awesome. For example lets say she fills the tank it only shows half a tank of gas.

well you'll have to test the sender to see what the resistance is, if it's reading correctly it could be wiring or the gauge itself. the fun part is the fuel level sending unit is located in the tank...so i'm not sure where the easiest place to test would be...right at the gauge cluster perhaps but here's the diagram i found for the sensor...its in the tank..
