So I am wondering where is the best place to hook wire in extra turn signals for mirrors? Car is a 2000 GP GT. Obviously I would like to have it so the left mirror blinks when left blinker is on and the right when the right is on.

I'm not sure but you should make a write up.

We'll wait till Bill gets here.

04-08 has positive output directly out of the bcm for left and right so that's easy as it gets.

97-03 your best bet is probably at the light housings. Someone else can chime in if they have a better solution

If I remember right Bill hook them into the headlight switch wiring. I plan to tap into them at the gauge cluster harness since I have the wiring schematic in the HUD write up.

I looked it up in the FSM to find a front directional signal. In the Regal, I think it was located either by the BCM or at the dash to body connector. It's been a while. I also put stock wiring into the factory door connectors. I'm a little retentive when it comes to wiring.

The less distance and through stuff that you run the better. Tape it up into the factory wiring where possible to keep it clean and protected.

And..make sure with a test light that you aren't tapping into a rear turn signal. You can test this by pushing on the brake pedal.
That's right..at first I found it and didn't realize GM used the same wire for both turn and brake.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Lol. Alight. I figured I would go off of the front ones. However to throw another wrinkle in things do you think that I could get away with hooking up a front facing signal and a rear facing signal up to one side or would that draw too much?

Yea. Its like a small 7 led signal I will be putting in the mirror and then an amber 6 led front facing one on the mirror housing.

Using LED's I wouldn't even bother trying to calculate load etc. They draw so little you could hook up a ton

I have a ton hooked up to my interior lighting and they still draw less than the stock bulbs

You don't know me well then. I like to make changes which are either subtle and barely noticed or that appear to be standard from the factory. I thought about a fender signal or front mirror housing signal and decided it wouldn't appear factory for a GM vehicle of the period.

The puddle lights, I would have liked to have done something more involved, yet didn't care to spend the time on them. BTW, while you are running wires and will be in the mirror....if you don't add puddles... you will do yourself a great injustice.

I'm adding puddle lights to my current build of the turn signals. Thx for the idea lol

I orginally had puddle lights planned but then a couple weeks ago I installed these logo projectors in the door that shine on the ground and am afraid the puddle lights will be too bright for this.

Although I could probably just install a rocker switch or something so I could switch between the logo projectors and the puddle lights.

And..I'm unsure of the 04+, but in 2000 GM decided to stop having door lights in the door. If you pull the panel and the reflector is a housing vs a reflector... add the proper socket and bulb.

I'll either hook them to the outside vehicle illumination circuit (when unlock is pressed at dark reverse and fog lights come on) or a door trigger and timer relay. I'll build my puddle lights into the bottom of the mirror not door.
