Hi, I just got my first car which happens to be a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. It has 169,000 miles so it isn't new and I understand not everything will be like new. But the thing that bothers me the most is the gas pedal. When I push it down it doesn't snap back right away like other cars I have driven. It kinda slowly moves back it feels like. The way I have been describing it to other people is like pillows. The gas pedal is like a memory foam pillow. It slowly comes back. While other pillows snap back like every other car's gas pedal is that I have driven. Is there anyway I could adjust something or tighten something? Maybe even replace a spring or something like that? I don't know. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Throttle body. It's connected to your air intake.

OK That's what I thought it was. Is that hard to do? How would I lube the throttle cable just squirt some WD-40 down the cable? How do I take the cable off the throttle body?

Throttle body needs throttle body cleaner. Clean inside the throttle body. Wet a rag and scrub the inside and clean the carbon buildup out.

Not sure about the throttle body cable.

id think the cable is frayed up inside, take the throttle cable off the TB, and then move it, it should be nice and smooth. if it slides nice, then the TB is gummed up and needs to be cleaned up.

When I push on the gas pedal it doesn't sound smooth it almost sounds like it is catching on something.

may need anew cable, its just like a hand brake cable on your old bmx bike or 10 speed, or mt bike lol, i know you know how that feels when its breaking inside the housing.

Yea I know what that feels like. It doesn't seem like it is frayed inside though. It just doesn't catch that way. It just isn't smooth. It is supposed to be smooth right? I think I may try cleaning the throttle body. But I do think it is the cable because I can hear it inside the car when I push on it. How can I lube the cable?

if you work the linkage on the TB, you should be able to feel if the cable is sticking.
