So I noticed my alternator was on the path to destruction- so I decided to change it out. The red wire that connects to the alternator broke in half during the removal process so I was wondering if anyone knows what size wire this is and what the connector is called perhaps eye loop?

I think it is a eye loop style, and the gauge wire should be the same as the battery wires.

    Likely a 2 or 4 gauge.

it's not as big as the battery cable is it??? Seems like I ran that size for my 180 amp alternator when I had a decent system in my car due to voltage drop but I was thinking 6-8 was more close to stock size... I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time...

you can cut the wire end off and re solder a eye loop. or just change that cable for one at the parts stores. they run about 6 to 8 bucks. measure the old one, buy a new one close to it.
