Hello i have an 04 Grand Prix GTP. i am having some issues with it. and everything i do traces it back to the BCM.

1st my BCM has several codes in it, dont remember them all. and sometimes all the gauges will go dead and all warning lights come on while im driving have to turn car off and on a few times to get them back.

2nd my service ABS, Service Traction and my Service Brake System messages are in my DIC and the lights are on in dash. it is blowing the fuse in the fuse box under the hood.

i have 1 changed ABS module, 2 changed the Front hubs, 3 did more research found that it may in fact be the BCM causing this as well.

i work in a salvage yard(also where i picked this fine unit up,but thats a whole different story) i got a used one from there, show to be a 1 year only part, 2004 GTP ONLY. I had one in stock took it to the dealer to have it programmed the said they couldnt do it, it was used tried to sell me a new GM one for around $300

i have ordered one from Ebay, was wrong, 03 style

i have ordered one from Rock Auto same resault as Ebay, WRONG ONE.

so i guess where im going here is does any one have any other sources i may be able to find one. i really dont want to spend $300 on a GM one and then another $100 to have them program it.

Thanks for you help in advance

Your changing the abs module but what about the pump itself? Which fuse is blowing?

PCM can be reprogrammed, BCM cannot. The unit vin locks and cannot be "setup" again.

You can send the EBCM/abs module to module masters to get rebuilt for a decent price.

If you un plug the abs module under the hood does the fuse continue to blow?

Then your abs module is not bad. You have a short to ground on that wire/fuse. The wire is most likely rubbing or pinched somewhere, unless you really want to track it down easiest thing to do is run a new wire from the back of the fuse box to the plug on the abs module

You can verify a short to ground on that wire by removing the abs fuse and unplugging the abs module. at that point the wire should be open. With a meter if it shows ground it's 100% a short.

What other issues are making you think it's a bcm?

Do you have an aftermarket radio by chance?

The codes would help but... Back to the aftermarket radio..

Do you have an interface module? Ex. Like a scosche?

That's your problem. They are known to cause data communication issues. They take out the data stream, gauges drop out random codes... Lots of em...

Where did you go? I bet it's a scosche module.. Absolutely peices of junk. Get it out asap and I bet your problems are no more.. Rest assured your BCM is OK

i guess idk what brand it is. it was in the car when i got it. but i had it out and there was a module behind the radio. and you have to have the module to have an aftermarket radio do you not? and the issues just started tho. haven't always been there

Do yourself a favor and unplug it for a bit you have nothing to lose. The problems are usually intermittent.

You have to have a module if you have monsoon. If you don't and don't mind losing door chime or on star then you don't need one
