I'll be coming up on 90k miles very soon and I want to keep the car in good shape. This month I've done the air filter, oil change, new tires and alignment, spark plugs and wires, and new headlights. I thought about a transmission flush but some people think it's a scam and some even say its dangerous becuase debris can get into your trans/engine.

Any other things I should think about doing?

Drain the transmission and replace the filter. Replace: fuel filter, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid...assuming it has not been done recently.

I would ask our resident transmission expert, Trannyman95, about the transmission flushes. He would be able to give you some definitive answers. But if the fluid has been changed on a regular interval you may not need to have it flushed.

That said, just dropping the pan and replacing the fluid in the pan only gets about 50% of the fluid in our cars, most of the rest is trapped in the torque converter and a flush changes that out as well so that you have near 100% new fluid.

The problem with a flush is that most places wont drop the pan and change the filter as well which in my opinion there is no point in doing a flush if you arent going to change the filter as well. Some of them you can ask and they will drop the pan and change the filter as well for an additional charge.
