So, I take the hot rod to the muffler shop to have the mufflers replaced cause they're rusted out. Cash in hand, I tell the owner, "go ahead and replace everything from the down pipe back. He goes into a "this car has been modded and is a turd. If I were you,I'd park it" tirade. I was like, wth are you talking about?

So, I told him to get it off of the lift because I know other shops who will gladly take my money. His son (I found out later it was the owner's son) followed me to the place where they parked my car and apologized. I told him the owner was an idiot and was lucky to be in business.

Then, I texted a gent on this forum who I bought some good used parts from, and he has an exhaust system for me! I'm just kind of confused as to whether it will fit or not.

The exhaust on it now has no CC. And I'm wondering if it will affect how the car runs with a CC.

I never had experience with a shop turning away a modded car.

I will say this I did have the shop I use decline working on my car (ac work) when I had it towed down there because the lack of a CC. Until I went down there and they realized that it was me and didn't hesitate to take it in. Last I checked it was illegal for a shop to work on your car if there's no CC so that could of been the reason but no need to be a dick about it.

As much competition there is in the auto repair industry that guy is a tool for declining the work.

I know. I still can't believe he wouldn't take my $$. The place was kind of a dump......I figured the guy at Oreilly's who's been helping me would know a good muffler shop....NOT!

Maybe the lack of the CC was the problem, but, he never mentioned it......

its hard to find a shop who is worth the money most of the time, unfortunately it takes trial and error and $$$ to find the good ones
'04 Chevy Silverado LT 4x4 - intake, headers, full exhaust, zo6 cam, 799 heads, tune, leveled, 33's
'00 Grand Prix GTP DAYTONA 500 - L36 block, S1X, intercooled, GenV, N*, headers, full exhaust, coilovers, 5 speed swap, stage 3+ clutch

Is there a rear o2 sensor on the car?
Do you have emmisions testing that would require at CC?
If I had to guess this car has already had the rear o2 tuned out and set to not report, did you have check engine code for rear o2 when you scanned it?
I wouldn't bother with the CC if you don't need it.

There's a sensor on the down pipe. Not sure what it's for.

    No emissions testing here.

Sensor on the down pipe or the catback?
Sensor on the downpipe could be for a aftermarket wide band o2 sensor, not sure how familiar with these cars you are but stock the rear o2 sensor would have been in a bung behind the CC in the cat back.
If you havn't had any check engine codes pop up for the rear o2 then it's probably been tuned out already and in that case seeing you don't have e-testing don't worry about the CC as it will not affect how the car runs and improve flow.

Yeah thats your main o2 sensor the stock narrow band, if you had a rear o2 it would be in the catback.

OK. The stock pipes are coming complete with the CC. Is there another sensor that will need to be hooked up?

Your rear 02 may be zip tied under the car dangling, but if it's tuned out or set not to report it won't do anything for you if it's even any good any more. The stock pipe your getting may have a bung for the rear o2 behind the CC that needs to be sealed to prevent exhaust leak. The CC on the pipe you get will still work but you won't have a rear 02 monitoring it's effieciency if it's been tuned out.
I'd cut the stock CC off the pipes you got and take it to scrap for some good money and piece in a straight pipe if it was up to me, no emissions testing and a turbo setup and a car that has already been tuned to run without one means no cat in my books.
