Re: Recall done and now wtf...
It only affects supercharged 3.8L engines.
Doing intake gaskets on the 3.4L/3.1L engines isn't hard from what I hear. Yes, you should use a torque wrench and make sure values are correct. The UIM has been known to crack on them if tightened too hard or in the wrong order.

This recall is for the front valve cover gasket on the L67 (3.8L S/C). You have a LHO (3.1L). Sorry to hear about your intake gasket, but just like us with the 3800s your intake gaskets is plastic, and it cracks (terrible design the geniuses at GM thought of). As referred to before make sure to pay careful attention to the torque specs on your bolts. Get a intake gasket set, that is the easiest way to get every gasket you need to do this job.
Good luck!!!
Re: Recall done and now wtf...
thanks anyway and i sen the whole set like you say so ill be looking forword to it soon
Re: Recall done and now wtf...
well so far everyone that i've talked to says its just condensation escaping through the exhaust. Makes me feel stupid getting worked up over it - just seemed like an awful lot of "condensation" for a lot longer than i remember. the "smoke" dissapates quickly out of the pipes, it just seems to persist for a lot longer than i remember. aka 20 minutes of idle or a 15 mile trip from school back to home and i still see it.
anyways thanks for the help guys.. ill be sure to be keeping an eye on my oil and coolant levels (they both look perfect in color and havent moved @ all so far)
losing sleep over vehicles sucks
Re: Recall done and now wtf...
I know your talking about this in another thread too, but what is the outside temps were you are at the times you see the "white smoke"?

ya i think i jumped the gun and said it was due to condensation but after thinking about it today and getting time to actually look at it, i determined (thus the new thread) that it just wasnt the case. it is a bit cold outside, however i've had it idling for 20 minutes and it didnt dissipate like normal condensation would have done.
anyways i will keep you posted because i have now ordered everything for a LIM change as i've set my mind up to that being the problem <crossing my fingers>
