Ok finnally did the big one upgrade ran a 4 guage battery cable (modded one end to fit) from the front fuse box bolt (under the red battery jumper connection) to the bolt under the rubber boot on the alternator. Car used to start fine with the first tap of the key now it cranks a bit first takes about 10-15 seconds of cranking windows do not seem any faster interior lights are brighter though. I did go to the right spots correct?

97 grand prix gt N/A 3800 if that helps.

    Thanks

Usually when I see people do this they do the big 3. Batter directly to alternator. Ground wire to the transmission bolt and one more ground to the frame of the car. And I helped a friend with a high end sound system do his and it worked greatly.

A guy who did it in his 3.8 used the top bolt on the transmission on the side the starter is on. I think...don't quote me but its a diff cover or something like that. And the best place for the new ground to frame is one of the strut tower bolts and sand it super good first. Also make sure u use solder on the end connections and not just crimp them onto the wire. And one more thing from research I've done on this the best size wire to use is 2gauge and lower

    1. Either the positive battery post or the relay center post (that you used) to the alternator.
    2. From the negative battery post to the engine (honestly any bolt to the engine or transmission will work)
    3. From the negative battery post to the body.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
