I just recently had to replace my front lower motor mount, my passenger tie rod end, and my passenger cv axle after I wreaked my car. But I still have a fairly bad vibration in my steering wheel but only when I'm going above 50 mph. It doesn't feel like the whole car is vibrating that bad - just mainly the steering wheel. I had my car aligned and the mechanic had to grind out my struts to get it to align correctly and it cost $102 - I hoped that would have solved my problem but it didn't.

Any help or suggestions? I find it odd that is doesn't vibrate until I start going 50+ mph...

EDIT: The steering when shakes while, accelerating, coasting, and braking once I'm around 50+mph - not just accelerating.

I bet you havent re-balanced your tires yet.

Or you may have a bent rim from the "wreck" and thats what you are feeling now.

Grind out your struts? That doesn't sound to good.. How hard was the hit, sounds like some uni-body damage might have occurred after the accident. You should never have to grind/cut/force certain parts in thats not good. It also agree it could be a bent rim or tires not properly balanced as stated. But it does kinda sound to me like bad tie rod(s) but you said they were replaced.

Grinding out the strut bolts holes is a very common thing. How else would we adjust camber on our cars.

I only replaced the tie rod end on the passenger side - not the whole thing.

Is there a way I can tell if my tires are unbalanced? Balancing tires is cheap too, right?

Yea its pretty cheap. I had all four of my tires aligned and balanced two months ago after I replaced bunch of things and only cost like 80 bucks

Sent from my pager using Morse code. ... .. ... ....

Wish I would have known and I would have had them balance my tires at the time of alignment as well..

I just want my car to run normal again lol

I know it bent my radiator back some and also punctured a whole in my coolant reservoir but I did not notice any bad damage to the frame.

I just had the car aligned and it was doing it before alignment and after.

And is it possible to check for broken belts without taking the rim off?

So what should I do first? I'm leaning towards having my tires balanced but the cheapest quote I've had so far is $48.... I was hoping it was around $15-$20. I mean it literally takes like 2 minutes a tire

48 is about what places around here charge. It'll end up taking em at least half an hour cause they'll work slowly

Just found out that Wal-Mart does it for $8 a tire.

And I have a feeling that if one is unbalanced then it has to be the passenger front because that is where the cv axle, tie rod end, and motor mount all broke. So i'm gonna try to save some money and do just that tire.
