Is it worth it for 2 borlas (2.25") at 100 each and a $100 install, will the sound be worth it? (called my local mechanic and he said he could install each muffler for 50 ea) for a grand total of 300 dollars for everything.. Does anyone have borlas and the rest stock? Does it sound good? is it worth the 300 dollar price tag not including new tips?

I'd go for it. Borlas tend to be the best sounding on Grand Prixs in my opinion.

I have Borlas and kept everything stock...sounds amazing. I paid around $70 shipped each for my Borla a few years ago and paid $50 to have then welded on so around $200 total.

You can get Borlas for cheaper than that..

Well near the same price, $10 cheaper on this site for the 2.25 in/out center.

$100 to install? Shouldn't cost more than $50.

Shop around $100 your paying premium prices. Try a smaller mom and pop shop.

Kinda what i was thinking, $100 to cut and weld is a bit high.

But borlas are the most expensive, under $100 is reasonable i think.

Sorry should of clarified myself a bit more. Under $100 for each Borlas is definitely resonable...as the saying goes you get what you pay for I didn't hesitate to buy a set because of what they were and how they made our cars sound without having the aggravating drone or everybody can hear me down the block thing going on. $100 to install is pretty steep considering there's probably some type of exhaust shop every mile someone will do it cheaper simple because of how rather easy it is. Paid $10 to have my old mufflers cut off. Went to another shop and paid the $50 to have it installed.

In/out center will require some extra pipe bending to line everything up. You need offset in/ center out. Like in redcompg's pics.

Me thinks I found my first thing Im doing to this car... Gotta do something with this stock Exhaust. As far as install, what about cutting the stocks out with my sawzall and then clamping the new ones in? I know welding is better, but if cost is a factor (and when is it not??) shouldnt this work out just fine?

Sawzall FTW it'll work just fine. You could get some clamp on tips and make sure they will fit over a 2.25 pipe and go that route instead of welding.

Thats what i thought. That way also If in three weeks I realize I don't like the tips i can just un-clamp and replace. and not waste money on welding. granted once everything is how I know I want it I would have it welded...

clamping new mufflers to the factory pipe wont work out so good, the need to be welded on due the odd shape of the pipes.

or piece together a whole new cat back, res,( glass pack 20 bucks) y pipe, and mufflers, you could go that route for maybe 100 more. then the 300 listed above.

the stock pipes are far from round like the end of a new muffler. more egg shaped i guess. not real true round though.

i found out by calling Jy's all over looking for a muffler for my regal. found a yard with a gp in it, had them cut it off, when i got there it was off a factory cat back, the guy told me over the phone it was clamped and they would cut the pipe past it.

i got there it was welded to the pipe, and no wheres near round, so i had to pass on it, as i have after market pipes already. which are very round at the ends. the 2 will never clamp up, not ever.
