I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. Recently, the blower for the Heat and A/C will work when it wants to. It will stop working for a while and then all of a sudden come on. The dash lights, the lights on the steering wheel and the switches on the door have gone dim. They will work when I move the switch over. I would like to know if it is a fuse or electrical.

probably just need a blower motor..a fairly common problem on GPs

could have been caused by water leaking from windshield cowl .....might want to check this out http://www.grandprixforums.net/water...-fix-6961.html

First things first, yes, the water leak issue will destroy the blower motors and sometimes the resistors, but unless you've had water in passenger compartment floorboards thats unlikely the issue. I would start by checking the main ground, negative cable to the battery and where it attaches to the car, look for corrosion, take the cable off and clean around where it seats and use some dialectric grease when reassembling. You can check the alternator connections as well.

    Merry Christmas by the way.

blower motor resistor or possible ignition switch seemed to always be the culprit here.
