Just the other night though I smelled something like hot wires or smoldering wires. I stopped and looked around but couldn't pin point it. Now today I noticed the smell again. I turned off my heated seat, and the smell went away. I couldn't get it to come back on either. So I'm pretty sure it's related to that. But I live in Iowa, it's cold as hell, and we just got hit by a snowstorm the other day. So I would like to get it going again asap haha. Is this a common problem? I did a search and found a how to repair the wires thread and stuff, but nothing on a related burning smell.

you would need to take the seat out of the car and take it apart to get to the heat pads and some of the wires.

source new parts out of a junk yard car.

The burning smell is probably the fabric that was burning as the element burned up

Mine is the same way... Pull the switch for the heated seat and check the back side of it..
