The stock airbox is set up to draw cool air that gets forced in through the fenderwell. In your set up you have the filter hanging right over the hot exhaust crossover pipe. The intake air temp sensor is probably reporting that the intake air temp is too high....probably because it is. You're actually losing efficiency here because even if the filter is less restrictive, you're pulling in much hotter air. You need to move that thing out to the fenderwell so it can draw cool outside air, not hot underhood air.
