    As you can see, I bought the car and it was just taped up there.

    it looks like you could remove the rear deck around the speakers and pull the light up. remove the slack so it isn't hanging and secure it in place on the topside of the deck. Possibly zip ties, tape, glue, or if your really careful you could melt the plastic outer tube and stick it in place.

    Yours is like every other 97+ GP. All 97-08s used the same light fixture. I had to replace mine as it shorted out and melted the whole plastic support and it just hung down and the bulb was molded to the base. Cost about $20 and comes with a new light if yours is busted at all, but it should have one side that slides into a hole and the other side is a rounded springy type that slides up into the hole and locks it in place. The wire should be held in with christmas tree clips that are tied to it and shouldn't hang down either.

    If need be I can take pics of mine after work and where it goes, but mine is a 99 model. But should be mostly the same inside the trunk
