Finishing up on my UIM/LIM repair and started changing the O-rings on the fuel injectors, when of course one broke. Not the fuel injector, the little plastic piece at the end of the injector called the pintle. A new FI is $89 at Auto Zone, Rock Auto has reman units for $29 after core charge. Then I was reading that it's best practice to replace all injectors if you replace one, so you don't have 1 good one and 5 half-clogged ones producing an uneven power balance due to uneven fuel distribution.

I found a place in Oregon called Mr. Injector. You send in your injectors, and for $16 each they give them the ultrasonic cleaning, bench flow check, and rebuild them with new filter, O-rings, spacer and pintle. Turnaround is 1 day excluding shipping. He gets them Monday and he ships back Tuesday.

Anybody use these guys before? I'm sending the 6 injectors from the 98 GT on Monday and will report back.

could always buy Bosch Type 3 Fuel Injector Service Kit w/ Pintle Caps | eBay and reuse all ur injectors and replace all the caps and filters and have some left over LOL but then again it is alot of cash for just needing one

Those plastic things are not needed.

Install new o-rings and carry on.

Well, that's true. The injector will work fine without the plastic.end piece as that's not part of the mechanism. However it must do somerhng to shape the spray pattern or something or they woulnt bother to put that piece on when they make them. The other thing to consider is that piece was so brittle it split in two and popped of with just slight pressure. If the other 5 are in similar shape I would hate for one of those plastic
things to get loose and get sucked into the intake.....

Maybe overthinking this but a cleaning wouldn't hurt them either....what's one more week in the garage?
