I did a search here on the site and came up with no results so maybe someone can help. Now I know that there are many brands and types of readers out there but with so many to choose from, I'd like to know what "Brands" are good and offer the best "Features". I have heard of scanners that read ABS Codes as well. I won't say that "money is no object" as I'd like to keep it in the ballpark of $150 bucks or so. Can a quality unit be had for that kind of money? I've looked on Ebay and have seen units as low as $25 bucks and as high as $201 dollars. Maybe there might be some professional mechanics out there that use a decent unit with good features that can pass along some info. Thanks very much!
The car has been running just fine with the exception of the starting issue after the car has been driven a while. When hot you sometimes need to "feather" the gas pedal when restarting it for a few seconds and then it runs fine. Otherwise it revs to about 12 to 1500rpms and stumbles and dies. It hadn't thrown a check engine light and was put on a scanner last week to see if there were any "stored codes" but there weren't any. This morning I left Walmart after picking up a can of Seafoam and put it in with a full tank of gas just to run it through the system. On the way home on the highway the "CEL" came on. I don't know if it is just coincidence, but the light has never come on since buying the car 2 months and 1,000 miles ago. Go figure.
But back to the reason for the thread as I'm not looking to start a troubleshooting thread. I'd just like to have a quality unit to have in the garage for just this reason. I would also be able to use it for my son's Acura as well. Thanks again.
