Hey guys.. shortly after I got my car I started noticing what I thought was a belt squeak. It used to go away once the car warmed up but anymore it's constantly squeeking. It does increase with RPM.

It's on the main serp belt. When I remove the s/c belt it still squeaks. When I remove both belts, the squeak is gone. I have replaced the alternator and the entire tensioner assembly. It seems to be coming from something near the firewall. My guess is power steering but I'm kind of tired of throwing unnecessary parts at this car.

    Here's a video I took a few minutes ago:

Anyone ever had a similar sounding squeak before? Any ideas? I'm guessing replacing the p/s pump is going to be a pain.

    Thanks in advance ;D

It kinda sounds like belt slip to me, did you try a new belt? Does it have the right belt on it? Sleeper he said he replaced the tensioner assembly do those not usually come with a new pulley? And there are no idlers for the main belt just the supercharger. And he said the squeak is still there with the supercharger belt removed.

Yeah cuz if you replaced the alt and tensioner assembly the belt is the only thing I could think of.

lol well i started off just trying to replace the tensioner pulley alone. stupid me doesnt search first and i was trying to loosen it counter clockwise and its a reverse thread. broke the tensioner body so i had to get a whole new one.

so i spent today taking the alt off and then taking the tensioner body off. replaced the elbow and put it all back together. it didnt squeak for about 5 minutes so i was pretty excited.. then it started back up again!

heading to the zone now, will report back!

New belt appears to have made the sound go away. Drove around the block a couple times and all is well. Here's to hoping the noise doesn't come back
