I changed the blower motor resistor on my sons 2003 Grand Prix GT. What a pain in the ass. Especially after you struggle through it and get it changed and it does not fix the problem. The unit only works on 5. Where do I go next? I am thinking it is the manual dual climate controls. I have a line on a used one but my question is will that fix my problem? How do I change that out? How do you get the plastic moldings off around the controls? I am frustrated and could really use some good advice on this.

Check your fuses. Chances are you have a blown one.

Yes...there are two fuses for the HVAC...GM had some brilliant ideas.

No problem. I believe the culprit in which you seek lies in the fuse box under the hood. I may be wrong, but the fuse for speed 5 I think is in the glovebox...might have those backwards.

Could be #29 under the hood - Remote Keyless Entry, Theft Deterrent, Trip Computer, HVAC Module, Security LED or it could be one of these two in the glove box - HVAC Control or DIC/HVAC. Not this one HVAC HI as that seems to work.

Not that I can see - On the dual climate control when I push on the rear defrost - the light does not come on, same when I push the A/C button. Fan only works on 5 setting and the heat works and the knob to change the blower position works fine.

at this point i would bet that it is the unit.

to take the dash panel off, unscrew the 2 screws holding the trim under the steering wheel at knee level, pull that out and then pull the dash trim off, be careful you have to unplug the fog light switch too.

Did you replace the resistor with a brand new one or a used one?

Brand new AC Delco part. How would I test the wiring harness to see if that is the problem?

i found this i dunno if it helps becuase yours is an 03 GM Service Bulletin No.: 05-01-39-001A

    Subject:
Blower Motor Inoperative or Intermittent, Blower Speed May Drop or Blower Continues to Run After Key Off (Install a Capacitor at Blower Motor Control Module Connector)

    Models:2004-2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

    Condition
Some customers may comment on an inoperative or intermittent Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) blower motor. Others may comment that the blower motor speed may momentarily drop or that the blower motor continues to run after the key is turned off.

    Cause
This condition may be caused by a voltage spike from the wiper motor. The voltage spike may cause a logic lock up in the blower motor control module that may be either momentary or permanent.

    Correction
Install a capacitor at the blower control module connector.
DO NOT replace the blower control module, blower motor or the HVAC Control Head
