Ok, so, I have been in the market for a GTP again lately, and came across what looks like a deal and wanted to sort of get your opinions on it..guy has a 99 grand prix GT, that has been top swapped, has 42.5LB injectors, intense racing S2X cam, 105LB valve springs, ZZP modded retainers and valve stem seals, Ported supercharger with modular pulley system and snout turned down for small pulleys, gasket match port and the heads and intake manifold, rollmaster double roller timing chain, and a set of ebay cheapo headers....also had HIDs and small stuff like that...

My question is..he said it hasnt run right since, you can drive it, but its never had a tune, and he has a GTP computer in it right now...do you think it just needs tuning work? I would guess it would pretty much have to get a tune to be at all driveable, without having alot of troubles, at least when you went into boost...I can get it for like $2800...and he said theres less than 15 miles on it since the rebuild he just lost interested, lost money and cant tune himself...I have someone who can tune for me...sounds like a great deal considering what engine work has gone into it...even if I had to tear it down and rebuild it all because of an overlooked bottom end problem or something it sounds decent. Just wanted to gauge opinions...I dont know anything on how the top swapped GTs run or anything as far as if theyre harder to get the tune down or what...any info into this would be appreciated. Thanks!

he stuffed larger injectors in without a tune?

    Thats a problem.

All it needs is the fueling sorted out, then a minor MAF adjustment and trans settings changed back to GT settings.

Thats what I like to hear..lol. He said normal driving your fine and it will idle, and he said it seems like it would want to go when you sort of get into it, but it hesitates alot.

As far as trans settings, better to keep with a GTP PCM im assuming and just flash those into there? Also, will he GT trans. hold up ok or would a GTP trans swap be a good thing to look into?

Top swap guy here. Do it. Just needs a tune, you could even do a canned ZZP tune.

Dont swap a Factory trans. Look into a Triple edge trans or build your own.

Doesn't matter which PCM you use as long as its compatible with the OS you flash on it and the car its in.

Both trans have the same weak points and wont like the power level you'll see with those mods.

The question is: do you trust he did all of the work correctly?

Will look into a different trans...

As far as trusting his work...he said hes an ASE Apprentice at a GM dealership..so im guessing hes in training for ASE certification?? Not sure...but...I mean, even if not properly built...the platform and aftermarket on the car alone is almost work it, I would think...the body is pretty good except a few small rust spots that are just starting to appear, and 2 cracks in the front bumper...car wont be a daily drive so i have some time I can have it sit if need be for fixing things..I guess, well base it on, if it didnt run at all, would you still? For the body/engine mods alone then plan to just use the body and aftermarket parts on an engine you build? Dont know...it almost seems worth it even if it came to that worst case
