I had an '89 GP but it had the 2.8L V6 in it. Not the gutsiest of motors but I did run Autolites in it. I also ran low resistance wires and at least in that motor there was a noticeable difference in acceleration and response with the wires. I later chipped it and that helped out even further. Granted, it was a 2.8L but it was a whole lot more fun after that. I sold it with nearly 200k on it and it still ran strong. I even had it checked out by Pontiac. Had them put it on the diagnostic machine to check out the engine and to see if there were any unforeseen issues and even they commented that it ran dang good for a car that old at the time and with that many miles. It was 1998 or 99 that I sold it.
