I was thinking today about when I had my 99 GTP with the climate control. I had read on the other forum back in the day about this trick you could do with the CC. You press both knobs in at the same time and hold it for a few seconds then you can see your speedometer digitally on the CC screen. I think you could also get your trans temp and **** too. Do any of you guys do this, if so what else can you read on that?

Yeah, it's pretty neat. There is a list somewhere that lets you know what all the settings are.
I'm pretty sure it's on ClubGP somewhere. I'll grab it if no one else has found it by then.

To enter diagnostics mode:
Press and hold both the Driver and Passenger knobs in simultaneously until the display changes to read "-00". To change position, turn the Driver knob to the desired number and turn the Passenger knob one click to view the data for that position.

This is a list of the Trouble Codes displayed by the CJ2 Unit.
A two digit code indicates a current fault while a three digit code indicates a historic fault.

01 or 101 Inside Air Temperature Sensor Short
02 or 102 Inside Air Temperature Sensor Open
03 or 103 Ambient Outside Temperature Sensor Short
04 or 104 Ambient Outside Temperature Sensor Open

06 or 106 RH Electric Actuator Open or Short
07 or 107 UART Serial Data Line Fault

To clear codes from the CJ2 Unit, press the A/C Mode button.

can yoy swap out a 99 climate control for a 98 one. (swap the one he's talking about with the 3 dial one) i hate mine

I think he's saying to swap out his 3 knob one, for the digital CC in which you can do this to.
I've tried it with mine and couldn't get it to work. Ah well, that's what the HUD is for

The gray circular knobs/buttons on the dual climate control. I cant really remember what it looks like but its the knob on the far left and then the knob on the far right. but yea the driver and passenger knobs.

I'm not sure if I'm asking to right section/thread...but I couldn't find any related issue.
I had 105, cleared it, and 105 again. I have been hearing a noise of the actuator keeps moving (trying to do something) that goes away when i turns on the fan and moves its direction a few times.
Is this something I can fix/replace?

You have a bad actuator. There are two of them, one for each side. Call Ed Morad at Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts with your model year and he will fix you up with a warrantied used one. The actuator is held on by three screws and is a simple fix. My right side went out two years ago and the used one from Morad is working great and the price was superb.

In my search for information on the dual climate control and the temperature actuator motor replacement, I figured I would bring back and old thread instead of making a new one since there are so many threads on this.
My '99 has the driver side stuck to around 70 degrees or so while the passenger side works fine. The thing is that when I turn the temperature up to 90, the driver side will blow nice hot air, so I know the motor is operating. Is it a common thing for it to only operate partially? I would think if it failed, it would just be stuck on one position.
I still don't understand how to read the diagnostic codes, either. I went all the way through "22" and wrote down all the corresponding numbers and never got anything that appeared to be a trouble code (01-08 or 101-108).

Is this CC unit compatible with later model years? IE, 2000-2002? Can the wiring be changed to make it work or does it need a different AC unit behind the dash?

It's been gone over before. You'd need the dash harness from a dual digi car in order for the climate control to work properly. You might also need the HVAC box. Not sure on that one. No one has ever done it to my knowledge. Good job on searching. Not many can do that. The last post in this thread was over 4 years ago if you didn't notice LOL

Yep I've swap one into a 97 GT when I was completely rebuilding it....I can't remember if you need the entire HVAC box, but you will need the inner workings for sure. Since it is dual climate, each side operates independent with its own actuator. Basically you need to find a donor at a junkyard, gut the entire HVAC box and outer components, remove the wiring harness (All one piece which is connected to the fuse block under the hood and the brake module, etc), and then rinse and repeat on your vehicle. It's a bunch of work and a major undertaking.....is it worth it? I dunno, maybe. I did the swap because I did a total rebuild and wanted to get rid of all the 97 stuff that was becoming a pain...ie 4t60e, electronics, etc. The donor I found at the junkyard happened to have the dual climate so thats what i went with. This is not a Saturday afternoon job. You'll need plenty of room to spread out all the parts you'll have to remove. Good luck!
