I'm pretty sure my rotors have lost their coating in the SC. I can hear what sounds like fast ticking coming directly from where they are so I'm assuming the coatings gone. Do i have to worry about this? The sound doesn't bother me at all because the cone filter sucking and the exhaust overpower it, but I'm just curious if i have to worry about this because I don't plan on fixing it. Not that I'm lazy or anything, I've just spent more money in repairs than the car itself (didn't know it was gonna happen) and I don't wanna fix it unless its necessary.

it probably just your coupler going bad, lack of coating wont cause a ticking sound.

if it sounds like rocks tumbling at idle only, its the coupler for sure.

Nope, i replaced the coupler about a month ago. Doesn't sound like rocks or marbles, it sounds like i can hear every peg of the gear rotating

re checked the fluid level lately?

and your still getting full boost?

could have bad bearings if your real high mileage.

Lack of rotor coating won't cause a tumbling of rocks noise like the coupler, but it will cause rotor slap...that's loud. But isn't very common.

    Also...spending lots of money?

Probably costs liiiikkkkeee $50 or so to rebuild a GenIII Eaton M90, then new fluid...and a new blower gasket, which is like another $20~...

The sound isn't very loud, you can't hear it when the hood is closed. But yeah when i replaced the coupler i filled it with the right oil too so i can't imagine I'd be low. I also recent got my LIM gaskets replaced also.

Just post up looking for a M90...they are dirt cheap...if you pay more than $150 shipped for one, you'd be getting hosed.

Lol thanks. If it makes you feel better, they aren't even real and I photoshopped them on there. I'll be getting them soon though.

@bluegtp91, thanks I'll have to look into that, maybe ill try to get a nicer polished one (mine looks pretty bad).

CRC intake cleaner. Back when....I thought it would be nice to take the excess carbon off the rotors while the charger was off the car.

Lesson learned about Gen 3 coating and how fragile it can be. Lost about 2-3 psi of boost with the coating loss.

i think bill is trying to say he fvcked up and took the rotor coating off. but im sure that was years and years ago that he did that blunder.
