I top swapped yesterday and used fuel line repair kits to connect to the L67 fuel rail - The L36 lines have 90* bends on them and can pop off and start fires (happened to a couple members)

Do L67 lines connect in the same place as L36 lines? I'm trying to find out if I can by complete L67 stock replacements and just swap them out. I do not trust the fuel line repair kits anymore.

I literally just unclipped the L36 lines and put them on the L67 fuel rail. Its kinked and i dont like it, but oh well. If I was you I'd just get stainless lines, if you can somehow connect them to the metal lines somewhere under the brake booster. I have all the part numbers if you need them.

That's what I did, ordered everything I needed from summit. You should definitely look for an alternative to your setup, I know a few people have had fires because they pop off when they are kinked like that.

Only thing I'd suggest is getting the metal tube to AN line pieces from Swagelok. They are so much better than the AN ones and the Earl's/Russell ones aren't really rated above 60psi.

you can hold onto the head of the fuel line and twist the head so you can reorientate it in a better route. otherwise they just clip onto the new rail.

if youd want to replace lines feel free, but there is really no need. just make sure the lines stay away from the EGR or you're gonna have big holes in them really fast.

Nick, please elaborate on twisting the head of the line. I've done a few swaps and lines have always been an issue.

i was able to twist the heads on the lines (the side that clips to the rails) so they'd face a different direction. that way i could just route the lines and clip them into the rail without any funny bends or kinks. i just held onto the line and twisted the head, that's all.

the issue that i figured out is that they basically land right where the EGR runs when you do this so if they are close enough and not protected you'll burn right through the line and then you have what i like to call a fuel leak.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I was thinking L67 lines when you said twist the heads. For some caffination reason it made much more sense thinking of it as L36 lines.. hahaha.

I also has the too close to the EGR for my comfort issue.

What are the fuel line pressures? I ordered Earl fittings. I may have to replace them with Swagelok but the earl ones are made for tube to -6AN

I used those on my Bonneville and never had a problem. Our fuel pressure can hit 60-70psi with full speed pump running. However some guys have smelled fuel with Earl's and switched to Swageloks to never have a fuel smell again.

Okay. I have a Swagelok headquarters near me, I'll give them a call. Thanks for the info.

Here's the part numbers. The larger one is always in stock, the -5 one is usually a week to ship from the factory. If you are at the HQ, maybe you can get it quicker.
