I deleted my egr and now im looking to tune it out but everytime I go somewhere and ask them to set the code to no report they tell me you can't tune out the egr you just have to replace it. What do I tell them? I'm not interested in buying an hp tuner. My other question is when tuning out the egr all they are doing is setting the code to no report? If thats true why do so many people say you should get it tuned out? Just looking for some extra knowledge. Thanks

so you dont have to constantly check to see why your check engine light is on.

You need DHP or HPT to do this.

There are, but they'll use HPT or DHP.

Basically you need a program that can modify the PCM forever. Like DHP and HPT.

You are best off to find a person with a tuner and have them tune it. Its going to cost you money.

$100 for the credits + whatever the tuning party wishes to charge for the service if using HPT, Just service for DHP.

you have to tune your pcm, bc the EGR not only lowers emissions, it keeps cylinder temps down. exhaust gas is inert, meaning it does not combust. less combustion equals lower temps. which in the big picture reduces NOx emissions.

if you dont tune your car for no EGR you will have excessive cylinder temps and pinging/detonation due to high cylinder temps.

you can tune it to spray more fuel to keep cylinder temps down. or meth/water injection.
