Having trouble with my '01 GPGT's windows. First my rear passenger window randomly stopped working. It's up, will not go down with its own switch or driver's door switch. It's not making any noises and was functioning fine two weeks ago until I went to put it down one day, and found it wouldn't move.

My front passenger window has stopped working as well. It worked intermittently for 2 days before failing ie; one day it wouldn't budge, then worked fine all day the next day, and then it's been stuck closed ever since. When it did work it was perfect, no dragging or noise or slowness. But it's been stuck closed for a week now. Same deal, neither its own switch nor driver's door switch do anything, no noises, it just doesn't move.

I know both those doors are getting power as the automatic locks and lock switches work fine. Odd both windows on passenger side fail like that within two weeks of each other. Anyway, what is this likely to be? Motors? And how to fix?

    Thanks!

most likely the window regulators went bad on you.

they are a easy fix. take the door skin off the inside, unbolt the regulator, unplug it, put new one in, once you have the new one, its easy to see what you need to remove.

im pretty sure you need to hold the window up when changing the regulator. tape rubber wedge.

I think i'd start by testing for power at the motors. Its possible the wires in the door jam are broken or the main switch module is crappin out. Pretty sure all power is routed through the main driverside switch.

usualy when the motors or the regulators go out they are slow for a while and will go part way then stop, then after cooling will move again. With a bad regulator you can usualy hear the motor still moving in the door.

Hmm, I'll have to check that. Oddly enough after like 2 weeks of nothing, today passenger window is working perfectly fine again without my touching anything. I tested up/down several times with driver and passenger door switches and its smooth and fast but I'm leaving it up for now just in case.

I had my drivers side that would work part time and it ended up just being the switch. I just replaced the entire master controls in the drivers door. It was and easy fix, maybe I just got lucky....

I'm kind of having the same issue. I have an 01' grand prix GT. Rear driver's side window randomly stopped working. It wouldn't move when using the master switch up front. Went in the back and it kind of "fell" down slowly using the back switch. Then it wouldn't go up. No motor noise is coming from the door. No relay's or any noise anywhere. Won't go back up and is stuck all the way down. I thought maybe it was the motor that had just blown since it wasn't making any noise. So I went out and got a new one, and plugged it in before completely installing it to make sure that it would work fine before going through the hassle of getting the motor out. Well, the new motor didn't move at all when it was plugged in. Any ideas? Thanks.

check for power at the plug for the regulator/window motor.

could be a bad switch at the door, or the master switch.

you can also run a power wire from the battery to the motor, run a ground too, see if direct power makes it move.

So I played with the wiring around the master switch (which I recently just replaced) and plugged in the new motor (not mounted) and the rear switch worked in the down position, but wouldn't work pressing up. Also, the master switch didn't do anything. I'm leaning towards a faulty wiring in the new switch, or the wiring going into the master switch. Will check it out in the morning. Thanks.

So I messed around with it Saturday and found that when I wiggle the wiring around the master switch the lock button stops working, but it still unlocks, the drivers window will stop working until i hit the panel, and rear window randomly will work in the down position, but not up. Passenger side works just fine all the time. Mirrors as well.
