I've had this 04 grand prix GT for a few months now and these headlights have always been bothering me. They really ruin the look of the car. They have this nasty looking fog/haze over them, and i'm not sure what to do about it as i'm the not the most car savvy person.

So the question is what is it, and how can I get rid of it? Here are some pics --

You can try using a hjeadlight restore kits, but honestly if it was me, I'd just buy new headlights.

I used this kit... Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit

Buy Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit 38771 at Advance Auto Parts_____

$19.99. Used it two months ago. They came out looking brand new. They continue to look as good as day one. It's suppose hold up the longest according to Consumer Reports.

Wow, my headlights look just like the OPs. I was going to just pick up some multi-grade packs of sand paper and some clear coat, but for that price I think I'll go with that kit.

I just used this kit. I was able to restore two cars with this kit since the headlights for both were fairly small. I did my dad's 02 camaro as they were starting to haze. I also did my mom's 96 regal, which had been previously done with the 3M kit many months ago and were beginning to turn yellow once again. I have to say that I like the sylvania kit much more than the 3M kit. Here are the results. Keep in mind that these lights are still the original OEM lights that came with the car from the factory.

Do you just do the outside or do you have to open them up and get the inside to?

    Do just the outside.

On big headlights I use extra sandpaper, but on smaller headlights I use just a 3M kit. I like the 3000 grit wet sand pad it comes with.

Here are some before and afters I have done. Pic whoring time!!!

I think that sanding headlights is really the only way to refinish hazy lenses. Just my two $.02

If your strapped for cash right now you could gothe dirt cheap route. Get some gritty toothpaste and a rag. Google it, it works for light haze. Not sure how much it would help you.

Burb, I used Plast-X on a pair of F150 headlights and even after multiple passes it still doesn't beat sanding/polishing, but it does work.
