pretty sure i picked up a regular dic without boost level and performance shift, it came out of a junk yard gtp but seems it was replaced in that car too. had a trac button with trac off and low trac thats it, rest is displayed in display.

hooked it up replaced burned out bulbs. it does not read mileage or oil life or anything, just has a blinking zero.

    any way to calibrate?

    no 97 takes only a 97 dic.

    98-03 take the same.

There was no tracation control in 97. The PCM won't be able to communicate with that DIC. You will need a 97 specific one.

so i went to the junk yard again, 97 gtp has the TCS button, 2 other 97 GT's had TCS button. any clue as to why, if the 97 year did not come with traction control?

Because it wasn't an option back then as the GTP model was just an add on to a GT...as a supercharged package. The GTP wasn't a specific model until '98.

Has everything to do with what month the car was made! I just pulled an engine and trans from a 97 to put in my 97 gtp coupe and the engine i pulled had the 98 and newer supercharged and i fixed some of the vac lines for everything to work. My DIC in my coupe now is also blinkin 0 but its intermintent I can see the dic boost guage working but the performance shift doesnt light up either. My guess for my own car is i have a few electrical issuses to sort out and as for the 97's yeah what others said GTP was and option. I belive mid year they went to the 98 style setup. When I go back to Oslo and get a chance to look at the car I got the engine from Ill double check the tag on the door to see what the month and year it is and compare it with the tag on the door of my GTP coupe. Im sure both are 97 but Im willing to bet they are like 8 months apart or something.
