Hey this is my first post here and I am hoping someone can help me with my Grand Prix. The driver's side window would roll down but not up so I decided to go to the scrap yard to get a new master window switch panel. No luck, the scrap yards yielded no relevant parts. So I decided to take it apart myself and try and clean the connections. I found that the connection for the drivers window was broken and the button wasn't properly touching when pushed down. So I decided to take the switch rear passenger window and put it in the drivers window. After I put it all back together the windows were working fine and I was feeling happy about the job I just completed. However I went to start the car up and it wont start now. It wont crank, it wont turn over, it does nothing. We checked all of the fuses and tried using jumper cables with another car and nothing worked. Hopefully someone else has some insight or has had a similar problem in the past. Thanks guys.

that's... weird. well, depending on the year of your car, window switches are inputs to the body control module. if it shorted at some point and killed the module, it would make sense as to why it wouldn't start. what year is your car? and have you tried putting the switches back to where they were originally?

Its a 2000. And I couldn't put the switch back because the original one broke. It literally broke into about 5 pieces.

that's unfortunate. with a car that old, i doubt that's on a serial data circuit. does anything happen when you turn the key? dash lights come on? radio? anything with accessory power?

I do get power, the radio works when we had the jumper cables hooked up. When I turn the key the power turns on but there's no crank at all the engine doesn't turn over. Sorry if I can't be more specific I'm not very Auto inclined.

Yes we tried jumping the car with cables that were hooked up to my friends truck which was running. All the power in the car worked but nothing happened when I turned the key, no crank, nothing.

Update: I took it to a mechanic and he was doing a whole bunch of electrical tests on it and he cant figure out why it won't start.
