My son has a 1990 Grand Prix and is having a problem with his headlight dimmer switch. He's away a school now so but comes home on weekends so I would like to get the answer ASAP so I can order parts.
He told me his headlights switch back and forth from high to low beam but the handle doesn't click and the only way he can maintain high beams is to hold the handle in position. As soon as he lets go the lights go back to low beam. I know the switch is bad. My question is, is the switch part of the turn signal switch or is there a switch mounted lower on the steering column? I checked a couple of parts places on line and they had the turn signal switch but some also list a separate switch. The manual only mention a combination switch and isn't clear on whether that includes the high/low beam switch. I couldn't find any specific mention in the manual of the high/low beam switch.
