They are know for breaking the wire to the front wheel speed sensors and that would cause said problems. I know there are longer pigtails for this issue. I hope that helps you out.

You either have bad wheel speed sensors, bad wiring, or the EBCM is bad. There are trillions of threads with this same topic.

My advice: get it scanned, that way you don't waste your money throwing parts at an unclear target.

The harness on the bearing or the bearing. Usualy you can see the harness broken by looking under the car.But yeah have it scanned too.
The replacement harness looks like this Dorman Products - 970-042

    ok thanks

P.S forgot about using the search button at the top (if a mod reads this, myself and possibly other forum users would like if the search bar was a diffrent colour, it's invisible up there at the top, thanks)

and to the above posted, why bother (if it comes to wiring and parts) splice and cut wires, if one can buy the entire harness and be good to go

what he posted is the harness that leads to the harness that is connected to the hub, the speed sensor is in the hub and not serviceable, the whole hub needs to be changed if the sensor is bad.

scanning it is i good idea because it could any one of the 4 hubs, a bad wire, bcm, or so on.

the free autozone scanner wont pull abs codes you need to go to a good shop.

I have a thread on this for my 2003 GTP.... I would just go ahead and test resistance between the front wheel sensors at the ABS connector.... should get something like 100 ohms. If you get nothing, do the same test right at the sensor connector... if you get 100 ohms there, then there is a good chance the wire harness is broken....

With your model year, you might have a difficult time scanning the ABS codes with any reasonably priced code scanners.... pretty much all I could find that reads them is a GM Tech 2 and a Snap On scan tool (both big $$$).

I stopped at Advance Auto when I had a CEL. My ABS/Trac lights were illuminated and the reader told me it was faulty right front wiring.

Find an ABS scanner. None of them would work on my car either, I paid GM $100 to use their techII. At the time, this forum seemed ignorant of ebcm failure until I had it...

So it was worth it, for me.

I've got the same problem. i replaced all the sensors and there are no bad sensors or wires. the light just will not go away. could it be the ABS control Module?

Speedy, just call around say "do you scan abs codes?" if they say yes, wonderful, find a place that's like $30 or less. Then if they say "man you know we couldn't find any codes the computer said could not access codes" or something like that, hit up module masters and get the ebcm rebuilt. If they give u a code, get the code and replace whatever hub it might be or wiring.

and if you're really anal retentive like I am, then take it to gm and pay $100 for the techII scan and they will tell you, yes your ebcm is bad and it will cost $1500 to replace it.

GT2001, I bet it's your ebcm if you've replaced every thing else. A scan will verify this. I did the exact same thing you did and really wish I had just started with a scan and saved myself hundreds

Seems there are no "cheap" (<$200) scanners that will scan the 99-03's that I could find. I actually bought an innova 3160 scanner for $200 and it couldn't scan my 2003 (it said it wouldn't, hoped it would :-) ).

Very helpful thread as my '04 GTP Comp G is now experiencing the same thing except my DIC is telling me that everything is failing.....TC, SC, ABS, VES.......but it doesn't do it all of the time......seems to pop up when I am braking quickly or when I am sitting still for more than a minute with the AC running. After browsing this thread, I have a clear path for troubleshooting. Betting it is a bad connection or a failing sensor.....hopefully not a bad EBCM.

Always start with a scan that's number one. It will tell you exactly what is wrong..
