Hello to the forum ....This is my first post here and I hope someone here can help me. I recently purchased a 2000 gtp for my wife to drive,(175,000 mi.) and it's having a random stall issue. Ran fine for the first 125 miles or so, then stopped on her in traffic at a light. Started idling rough, then died. Car wouldn't start back up immediately, but after about 20 min. it started for me and I drove maybe 200 yards before it quit again. I had it towed home, and after 30 min. or so it cranked and sounded fine. We were afraid to drive it anymore that day, so the next morning I replaced the fuel filter and the old filter seemed to have some restriction in it, so I thought problem was fixed. Yesterday I drove 20 miles to a friend's shop and checked the fuel pressure . With key on it was 53 lb./in., idling was 43lb/in. Then we drove nearly 60 miles more , both highway and stop and go with no problems.Today she drove it nearly 80 miles on the interstate, on a trip to pick up the grandkids, and made it home safely, but as she made the last turn into the driveway, it did same thing all over again. When it happens, it acts like it's running out of gas, won't go over 1000 rpm's, slows, idling really rough and dies..... The tach does not stop working. I am getting no codes. It does not immediately restart,......usually takes 20 min. or more before it cranks, and seems to run ok.....I have been reading on here about all the stalling issues and am now afraid that I made a bad mistake in buying this beautiful car. It does have a K&N filter on it, everything else stock. If it was the MAF sensor, would it not show a code? If the fuel pump is bad, would it start back up and run fine for a day or two before acting up again? If the CPS is bad, wouldn't the tach drop to 0 as it starts to die? Would it not throw a code? If it's the fuel pump resistor issue, would it crank back up and run fine for two days and almost 200 miles? We don't have the $ to start replacing parts in hopes of repair by elimination, and I have to get this car fixed, as she travels every week to pick up the grandkids 40 miles away , as well as going back and forth to work in it every day. Transmission shifts perfectly, engine as smooth as silk until stalling issue starts up, only code it's had was p0440, and I bought new fuel cap and cleared that code. Running premium gas, and averaging 27.8 mpg. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...just don't want it stopping her out on the interstate in a black car with babies in the car in the Mississippi heat...... THanks in advance, Fred
