Thread: how do you all do an alignment on thses cars?

i know how to do an alignment (im talking about front toe adjustment) and ive done it on my 99 GTP several times but i was using an alignment rack how do you all do it in your own garage on the ground? theres no clearance in theses cars or do you just kinda make it work?

its a hell of a lot easier to turn the inner tie rod from under the rear of the front tire, just did this 2 days ago. with the wheels straight anyways.

i have seen on tv where they did a at home alignment, they just measured from matching tread on the tires, 1/8 smaller on the front side of the tire vs the rear of the tire.

Holy crap, I didn't know you could do this. Firestone has been ripping me off.

a laser alignment rack is always going to be a much better solution than doing it at home.

Two laser pointers duct taped to the front wheels, a couple 2x4's and you can do the rears too.

Bill, I'm trying to be troll today but you keep substantiating my comments. LOL

I'm a mod...it's either substantiate or infract.

You can do it with string too, it gets it close enough to not make any wear difference. That said having an alignment done on a rack using a machine is always the best option.

Just go somewhere that offers a lifetime grantee/alignment. If your doing it right they will see you every few months.

hah, i sure hope not.

agree this is the 4th alignment ive had to do on this car in the past 8 months

the alignment should be 100% for at least a set of tires. the only reason ive been to the alignment rack more than twice in the past year is because i swapped my suspension twice.

and those lifetime alignment places dont align your car how you want it, they do it per the stock specs and that's it. so it's useless to anything looking to go aggressive with it.

Michigan roads+new tie rods+letting people drive your car= needing more alignments
