No this isn't the typical my display doesn't work, it does, but when the lights are turned on, it goes off, and none of the lights come on the radio. I've tested it in another car, and tested another known good radio in this car, with the same results, both radios go dark when the lights are turned on in the GP. I looked at the adapter harness from the aftermarket radio that was installed and found the "Dimmer" and "Illumination/ Dash Light" wires and disconnected both, it looks like the Illum wire does nothing, and the Dimmer wire causes the display to go out. I'm not exactly sure how this works, most cars I've worked on had one wire that did both, my best guess is that the Dimmer causes the display to go out, and the Illum is the one that controls the brightness of the lights. The rest of the lights in the car work fine, is there a problem with this wire? Should I run a jumper wire from it to the climate control lights? Help please, it's annoying not having lights on the radio at night!
I forgot to mention, the car has a factory CD player. I took out the aftermarket one and put a factory one in.
