You can and a shift kit will help the longevity of the trans. The 97 has different vacuum routing so that'll be a little different but it shouldn't be to bad of a swap. Your gt trans has a different gear ratio than the gtp so you'll have to get a pcm tuned for it.

Alright that I expected for sure. And Yes I can get both the motor and trans from the supercharged car.
So a shift kit is a must then. I don't beat on my cars by any means but I would like it to hold up to the occasionally punk driving his daddy's corvette every now and then. I took down a 1999 vette in my 04 gtp comp g with just a 3.4 pulley and supporting mods. I plan on going much further with this car.
I think the gt trans is 3.23 and the gtp is 2.73 right? basically that'll only effect my speedo wont it? I wont mind it being off by a few mph for a little while if thats the case

What about the suspension differerences between the two cars.. Are the shocks or front differentials different on a gtp to handle the extra power? Or is basically the only difference in the trans?
