    Hello all,

    2004 Grand Prix GT 3.8

I recently had my upper intake gasket replaced and now my tranny is having issues. Unfortunately, the shop that did it is closed until Monday and I have a trip to go on tomorrow. The car starts out in 2nd gear, and there is no 4th gear. The 2nd gear start is only when the car is cold and the non existent 4th gear issue comes and goes, but if it does not find 4th, the entire trip is without it. I can manually select 1st, and if the car is warm, it finds it. I am sure (I hope) something was left unplugged or needs to be reset, any ideas?

    Thanks

They did the upper or the lower? The lower is common but the upper isn't very common to go bad. The trans wiring harness is right there maybe check to see if they hit something and disconnected it.

I checked the receipt and it shows "intake gasket - replace"... I just thought I heard him say upper while I was there. Where is the transmission wiring harness? I checked the long cable that goes over by the air box from the firewall and it appeared ok. Thanks for helping

On the top of the trans there will be a few connections kinda under the master cylinder for the brakes. Check those out and see if any are loose.

I found one unplugged, but it is kinda dirty, so I am not sure it has been plugged in. Here is a pic, the loose connection has the blue end on it and I can not see anywhere it should be able to reach. This is looking straight down on the transmission, under the master cylinder

thankfully there was a code that showed the shifter solenoid not connected. It just ended up having a some grime between the connections. Back to the Poncho Power!
