    ok guys and girls no flaming but autozon, advance, napa and o'reillys are telling me that all our power steering componants are special order and i have to work tonight (pizza guy): and i do believe my pressure line is leakin like a siv onto my headers so my Q is is there any way to disconnect or bypass the power steering pump???

    You could run it dry on fluid but then you'll be needing a pump and rack probably. The way the belt is routed I'm pretty sure you can't bypass it.

    There's a guy on an Idaho forum that is runnin no power steering but it's not easy. His regal is a mostly custom turbo car. After he nixed the pump he pumped the rack full of grease and sealed it up.

    thats what i was thinkin... its got 235k on it so the rack is inevitable

    You gotta do what you gotta do. It's not hard to swap a rack if your rack goes.

    Gives me ane excuse to pull my motor and clean up the engine bay and fix exhaust leaks... and yes I kno I don't have to pull the motor to do it but why not right

    because pulling the motor is a lot more work than swapping the rack out.

    i kno that all too well... but my cheapie headers need to be welded into one piece and itll b easier to do with the motor out and my balance shaft is ticking real good, might as well kill the whole flock while im at it lol
